New Jersey Family Photographer | maternity leave message

I'm officially announcing the news that we're adding a third addition to our family this fall! Our baby girl is due at the end of October and with that I must plan my schedule for the next 2 months.

August/September weekend schedule as follows (all local to morris county/sussex county NJ):

Saturday August 1: wildflower field/lake setting (late afternoon/sunset)

Saturday August 8: english garden setting with meadow (late afternoon/sunset)

Saturday August 15: rustic park setting with field (late afternoon/sunset)

Saturday August 22: wildflower fields/lake setting (late afternoon/sunset)

Saturday Sept 12:wildflower fields/lake setting (late afternoon/sunset)

As always, I will be working 2 weekdays each week in conjunction to the weekend shoots. Weekday shoots can take place at your home (local only) or local outdoor location of your choice. To reserve a spot for 2015 and get your holiday portraits done- please contact me as soon as possible. Space is very limited!

current weekend schedule and locations

Revised on Friday July 18, at 2:3 pm.

This will be changing on a daily basis, but as of today- here is my availability and locations for the next few months. I can only photograph 3 clients per Saturday. If only 1 time slot is listed for a date shown above, its because the other times are booked.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are my other shooting days.

I photograph a certain amount of clients per month. Once the month books up, I will start a wait list. Its best to book 2-3 months in advance now (my busiest season).

New Jersey Family Photographer | Cherry Blossom Beauty

We headed to Branch Brook Park, in Newark NJ the weekend of the cherry blossom festival. My intention was to photograph my daughter for her second year birthday portraits at this park. I figured it would be a nice way to celebrate the season she was born in, plus pink happens to be her favorite color. So we packed up and headed out at sunset (a very bad time in our house considering we have a 2 year old and a 6 month old). But we went anyway because I'm a photographer and I needed to get the best shot. Scarlett was a difficult subject to say the least. I was sweating and bribing her with everything I had. In the end, the bubbles kept her mildly entertained and I was able to capture a few shots I love. But when I got home and looked at them all, I though she just looked "off." Turns out she was on the brink of a very bad cold. So all I see when I look at her face is a sick little girl. But still, the lighting- the dress- the trees- are too breathtaking. I'm compelled to share! Hope you enjoy this little snippet in to my original idea for her "second birthday portraits."

fall scheduling information: maternity leave has begun

Hey guys!

I'm officially making the announcement...we're having a baby next month and I'm beginning my maternity leave now. What that means is I will no longer be shooting portrait sessions, however- I will be placing orders and prepping any other items you may want during the fall. Such items include: birth announcements, holiday cards (if we did a shoot this year and you'd like to use the images for your holiday card, or any holiday gifts from portrait sessions done already (canvas prints, etc). Turn around time will be a little slower once the baby comes (mid - October), but I will make sure any orders placed by Nov. 5 are out the door by Dec. 5. Orders placed after Nov. 5 may take a little longer but I will try my best!

I will miss seeing all of my old clients this fall, as some of you know this is the "busy season" -- when I get to see old friends and how much their little ones have grown! Please stay in touch and if you get a chance send me a photo of your family. I'll be back to work in the spring and hope to see you in 2014. If anything changes and if I get the urge to do a wintery snow shoot in January or February I'll be sure to post it on my facebook fanpage and website.

In other news, here's a recent picture of our 16 month old daughter! She's quite a piece of work :)

new jersey family photographer | love of a lifetime

We just got back from a wonderful vacation down in Florida with our family. I'm so grateful for our little getaway, it was just what we needed after such a long winter. While away, I had the chance to photograph my grandparents, who have been married for 70 years. They're such amazing people who have seen so much in their lifetime, and I am beyond honored to have photographed them for their upcoming anniversary party. I had to share the pictures because they are so adorable.

2013 shooting schedule

I'd first like to thank you all for an awesome 2012 fall portrait season, it was so great seeing you and meeting new folks. Now, as some of you know, I had a baby girl last April. Being a mom has been an amazing journey so far, and coming back to work in September was a wonderful, creative outlet for me. The 2012 fall season was jam packed with lots of shoots and having had no previous experience of juggling a new baby and running a full time photography business, I realized it was too much for 1 person to handle. As a result, I've had to rethink my portrait schedule. With that said, my 2013 shooting schedule will consist of 6 shoots per month (no more than that, no exceptions--sorry!). Shoots will take place in 1 designated location 2 Saturdays per month (rain dates will be Sunday). I will shoot 3 families per saturday at the designated location. If you have already purchased a Watch Me Grow package, I highly suggest you contact me as soon as possible to get on my schedule. This will go in to effect in March 2013. Also, if you purchased a gift certificate, please contact me right away to be sure you can get in on a saturday session. Since newborn shoots are so time consuming and take place in your home, they can't be done on Saturdays. Newborn shoots will only take place on a week day, and I plan on accepting a very minimal number of newborn shoots per year.

This is a temporary schedule change, not permanent by any means. When I am ready to take on more, I will let you all know. My main concern is being sure I can give 100% of myself to you and  your family without compromising my creative process. I plan on continuing with my Connecticut Spring/Fall Portrait days as well!

....and finally, here is a recent photo of my baby girl. This was one of the photos taken for her holiday card, as you can imagine she had many "looks" for the shoot.

Happy 2013!

Fall Shooting Schedule

I began taking appointments for the fall season on August 1st. I'm almost completely booked up already for the fall, so if you'd like to reserve a date for your yearly or holiday portraits please contact me. My shooting schedule will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Saturday shoots will be at a designated location so I can have more than one family shot in one day. Saturdays are very popular and will be booked up soon. Here's a recent photograph of our daughter, Scarlett. She just turned 3 months old at the beginning of August. Its been a lovely spring and summer bonding with her. My sister bought this little elephant costume and I couldn't resist putting it immediately on her.

Scarlett, 7 days old

After much anticipation, I'm happy to let you all know that we gave birth to our daughter, Scarlett last friday. We are so in love  and are enjoying ever minute spent with her. I just wanted to post a picture of her from today (obviously I am photographing her daily, she'll be so sick of me by the time she's 2). Once I'm a little more settled I'll be sure to post her official newborn portraits on my blog!

My maternity leave

Just reminding all of you, I am on maternity leave until September 2012. If you would like to book something for the fall, please feel free to email me (merney77@hotmail.com). I will begin taking appointments for the fall on August 1st. If you would like to place print orders from previous shoots- send me an email and I will reload your gallery as soon as I can. Wishing you all a wonderful spring and summer and looking forward to catching up with you in the fall!

my maternity leave: march 1 - sept 4

Well, I guess its official...we're having a baby girl soon! I wanted to let you all know that I will be on maternity leave starting March 1st and will be back to work in September. I plan on accepting appointments for the fall season starting August 1st. If you'd like to book a session for fall 2012, let me know! I think the fall will book up quickly since my spring and summer clients will be pushed to the fall for their shoots as well.

If you've had a shoot recently, I recommend placing your print order by the end of March. Just let me know if you need your photo gallery reloaded. If you had your shoot a while ago, and decide you want to place a print order (during my maternity leave), just email me and I will reload your gallery for you. I expect there will be a lag time right when the baby arrives, but after a month or so, I should be back on track.

If you purchased a Watch Me Grow package and have your baby's 1 year shoot scheduled during my leave, contact me and we will discuss the options.

I'll miss you all while I'm away, but will be sure to update you on my photographic adventures!!

20x24 Deluxe Photo Collage

Just wanted to share one of the cool products offered here at Meredith Mascola Photography. The 20x24 deluxe photo collage is the perfect option for those who love lots of photo's from their shoot, but don't have tons of wall space to showcase everything. I absolutely love this product, its fun and modern...and ready to hang!
